I used to think worship was just about the words.
The lyrics. The declarations. The moment in a song where everyone raises their hands.
But then I realised something deeper something I think a lot of us miss.
Excellence is worship.
Not just the sound we make, but how we make it.
Not just the words we say, but the integrity behind them.
Not just what we produce, but the intention that births it.
🎛️ The Beat as Benediction
When I sit down to produce, I’m not just layering synths and smoothing reverb.
I’m tuning my ear to something higher. I’m aligning my craft with the character of God.
Because God doesn’t halfway anything.
Creation wasn’t mediocre.
The stars didn’t glitch.
The oceans didn’t loop on a lazy BPM.
Everything He made, He saw and called it good.
So when I create, I ask myself:
Is this good? Or is it just fast? Is it excellent, or just trendy?
Because I don’t want to chase charts. I want to reflect heaven.
Soundcheck for the Soul
There’s something sacred about doing your best even when no one sees it.
It’s easy to slap a loop together, throw a tag on it, and upload.
But if I truly believe that the Holy Spirit can move through sound —
then why would I rush that process?
Worship isn’t about the spotlight.
It’s about the shadow where the work gets done.
The hours of mixing. The rewrites. The version 6.1.3. The deleted drafts that no one will ever hear.
That quiet place?
That’s where the altar is.
Practise Is Prayer
You don’t have to say “Hallelujah” on the track for it to be holy.
Sometimes the prayer is in the precision.
Sometimes the worship is in the waveforms.
Sometimes what honours God most… is simply refusing to be sloppy.
There’s a reason David tuned his harp and not just his voice.
There’s a reason Solomon hired the best for the temple.
There’s a reason heaven has a choir and not just noise.
Colossians 3:23 (ESV) says:
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.”
That verse is my blueprint.
It reminds me that the standard isn’t set by the algorithm.
It’s set by the Almighty.
So whether I’m producing a club track, remixing a hymn, or composing something no one may ever hear —
I do it like it’s worship.
Because it is.
💭 Final Thought
Excellence isn’t about perfection.
It’s about devotion.
It’s not about getting it right, it’s about giving it your all.
Because when we bring our best, not just our leftovers —
that’s when heaven leans in.
That’s when creativity becomes communion.
That’s when music becomes ministry.
And that…
is worship.
